Leopold I (F930) is a Karel Doorman -class frigate of the Marine Component of the Belgian Armed Forces. Prior to 29 March 2007, the ship was known as HNLMS Karel Doorman (F827). During the first maintenance period, the Karel Doorman will receive anti-aircraft missiles (Rolling Airframe Missile, RAM) and a 76mm gun for self-defense. These capabilities replace two Goalkeeper close-in weapon systems (CIWS). The RAM missiles will be a major improvement against air targets, while the naval gun system will bring an improvement against sea targets.
